Freelance journalist
Writing and Editing | Amsterdam Area, Netherlands, NL
Having travelled all over the world and having studied in different places (in- and outside the Netherlands), I've gained many great experiences which have helped me develop, both personally and professionally. I also have a lot of extracurricular experience, from a fulltime year as a board member at a cultural student centre to canvassing for the Obama campaign team in 2008 in Columbus Ohio.
My goals are to write as a professional journalist for newspapers and magazines, preferably about politics, and Dutch or American politics in particular. I am also interested in culture (broadly defined) and societal issues.
Specialties: education, societal trends, cultural governance

Editor-in-chief / EL CID Dagblad
The EL CID is the introduction week of Leiden University. During this week, a paper is issued every day (circulation: 2000) containing news relevant for freshmen, columns and fun facts. I had worked as a editor two years in a row, and in 2009 I run the paper as editor-in-chief. It wasn't only loads of fun to do, but also very helpful in gaining management skills, since the entire editorial staff consisted of students.
